The Assault Group 28mm Renaissance range

Been enjoying the new book The Commotion Time - a military history of the Prayer Book Rebellion of 1549. So naturally I started thinking about wargaming it. When I posted about this before it was established the Assault Groups range was the best way to go. This range is pretty unique and has all the necessary elements to recreate this campaign on the tabletop. Hats off to them. There needs to be Italian arquebusiers, Albanian stradioti, militia bill and longbow, cavalry and artillery and apparently they are all there.

Remembering Roger Emmerson

The 17th century living history world has been shocked and saddened to learn of the death of one of the living history greats, Roger Emmerson. An artillery man - if you wanted to know anything about Ordnance then Roger was your man. He has been an active reenactor with his family since the earliest times in the 70s right up to this year and has many friends spanning different countries and periods. He also did Marlburian artillery as well as ECW (Hazzard's Roundhead Association) and was a popular participant of many continental battles. He used to be editor of a fine publication the Living History Register which was a great read. His passing is a blow to the world of reenactment. The photo is by Paul Houlton and is from 1989 at Lychett Minster Dorset.

Kolin 2020 by Honza Hak

So there has been a reenactment in the Czech republic in intense heat I understand. Great to see and thanks to Honza for the photos. If you want to see more I run a Facebook group Seven Years War living history pay that a visit.

Today's anniversary. Wiki
Watercolour by Richard Simkin, 1900 (c).

Fought on 3 August 1692, Steenkirk was a French victory during the Nine Years War (1689-1697). This work depicts Colonel Sir Robert Douglas of the Royal Regiment (later the Royal Scots) running through a French officer with his sword.
