Murray Melvin who played Reverend Rung passed away the other day.

Ces sanguines me semblent représenter un garde et un sergent des gardes françaises au début du règne de Louis XV

Mais j'avoue être un peu "au delà" de mes connaissances... "

The Deluge (Potop) 1974 Battle of Prostki

A clip from the famous film.  Wiki on the movie.

Against the Deluge

Michal  Paradowski

Mr Paradowski is becoming the go-to author on the 17th century wars in Eastern Europe in the English language. I have three of his books now and they are all very detailed and engaging. He is teamed up with ace illustrator Sergey Shamenkov who is probably the best artist working in the 17th century at present. The results are extremely good and ideal for wargamers and academics alike. The book which is a hefty tome is crammed full of engravings and period drawings ensuring that the subject never gets boring.

So if you are interested in Pancerni, Cossacks and the legendary Hussars you will find this book extremely useful and enjoyable.

By Fire and Sword II

Konrad Sosiǹski writes
"Hi Guys, I’m in wargaming hobby since almost 30 years now. When I have started in my country (Poland) this hobby was almost unknown. My favorite period was always 17th century. At the beginning I used 1/72 miniatures and later Old Glory 28mm for my games. I tried Tercio, Warhammer Historical and DBR clones as they were available for us. But it wasn't enough for me, I felt they are too generic and simple do not match exactly to period and theater of war we would like to play. Additionally I wanted more historically accurate miniatures too.

With my friend Rafal Szwelicki we decided to figure out something own. After few years of efforts and struggles we have published our own game By Fire and Sword (2011). It was focused on conflicts in middle 17th century in Central and Eastern Europe. Game were developed for many years and we have published plenty of additional books with rules and of course entire line of miniatures, terrain and accessories. By fire and Sword become one of the most popular wargames in Poland. Also its English version gathered a lot of players in many countries.

After many years we decided we want to make game much better, faster and easier to learn. We used our experience gathered during years of game development, new fresh ideas and trends on wargaming market to create something brand new. By Fire and Sword 2 ed is dynamic and modern but still realistic and historically accurate rules set accompanied by extensive range of models, terrains pieces and accessories. Now we are gathering funds for this project on Kickstarter. This not pre-sale but real crowdfunding. Money we gather on KS would be directly spend for game development. There will be hundreds of new/rescuplted miniatures, many new illustrations and of obviously products. Once 2nd edition is launched we plan to cover more conflicts and extend the timeline: you will be able to play battles of English Civil War and Thirty Years War, or Relief of Vienna... and many more.

If you like that idea and period as much as we do and you want to help make our dreams comes true – please consider supporting our project on Kickstarter: "
