Anglo-Dutch Brigade

Return of the Anglo-Dutch Brigade at the time of the Monmouth Rebellion in 1685 as depicted in a series of illustrated playing cards.
While praising their martial appearance James II did not trust the Anglo-Dutch brigade's loyalties and kept them at Hounslow Heath. Monmouth had led the brigade at the battle of Saint-Denis in 1678 and many of their officers toasted the rebel duke proving James' fears to be well founded.
