Sir Stuart Thriepland of Fingask (1717-1805), a Perthshire laird, served in a medical capacity during the 45' and after a period of exile in France eventually became president of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh (according to Stuart Reid, Highland Clansman 1689-1746 (Osprey Warrior Series 21), p.54)
