I enjoy the show very much but as is so often the case, attention to historical accuracy (especially in re-creating battles) leaves a lot to be desired. As I often remind myself, it's the best there is on the subject.
Historically (forgive me if this sounds like a rant), it's BBC apologist history. It takes several liberties. If I were to watch period drama (albeit with history somewhat told by the victors - the BBC existing apparently to undo this), the 1969 'First Churchills' is a better show - and is available on Youtube.
