In praise of plastics
I have been quite excited by the Strelets-r WSS figures but then I am slightly biased when it comes to 1/72 plastics. As a child I went to Britain's then I went to Airfix (the above picture of me in about 72 shows me with some). So to me it's old school. Sure I went to Minifigs, and Essex, Dixon's and so on War games foundry but I have always liked 1/72 plastics. They are simple to convert with head swaps and the anatomical proportions are quite pleasing. To conclude i don't look at 1/72 plastics as a cheap option but an aesthetic choice. Lovely slim bayonets.

WSS wargames rules
I have Facebook group called War of the Grand Alliance which covers the late 17th early 18th century and I asked them what rules would they use for the War of Spanish Succession?

New on the Strelets-r forum
Teasers for future releases on the forum. Standards are very high i would say but I am smitten. Not sure who these are but I am impressed.
Unboxing Strelets Set #230. British Infantry in Advance 1701-1714. War of Spanish Succession. 1/72.
Useful look at the new set from Drum and Flag. The only slight grumble I have is you get a hautbois and no drummer. I will be following this series closely.
White Mountain 1620

Тобол (The Conquest of Siberia) - Film Trailer
IMDB
A young officer of Peter I's First Guard, Ivan Demarin, on the instructions of the tsar, is sent to the depths of Siberia - to border Tobolsk. Here Ivan meets his first love and, together with his regiment, finds himself drawn into a conspiracy by local princes, who are hunting for Yarkand's gold. His fortress is surrounded by hordes of wild jungars and there's no place to wait for help .

Stuart Asquith
This was posted on @battlegames
It was with great sadness that I learned this morning that Stuart Asquith, probably best known as the former editor of Practical Wargamer, passed away last night. He will be missed by a huge section of the hobby who admired this champion of the ‘old school’ who espoused simple rules and a gentlemanly attitude to wargaming.

Prussian infantry 1709
I am looking forward to seeing what nations Strelets-r are going to produce for the WSS. French would interest me as well as Prussians. Prussians can be used for the GNW too. Also Danes. See here
