Plunder etymology

The word "plunder" originates from the German word "plündern," which means to loot or take goods by force. It was borrowed into Middle High German and later into English in the 1630s. The term initially referred to taking household goods but evolved to describe the act of stealing or pillaging, especially during conflicts or wars. The word has been used since the Thirty Years' War and has connotations of violence and despoiling.
