One King - a guide to wargaming Argyll's and Monmouth's rebellion of 1685 Stephen M Carter

This is most inspirational. If you thought there was little potential for interesting battles in the Monmouth era then take a look at this book as it is full of useful scenarios including 'what if' fictional battles.

In fact there are all the useful ingredients to make the period work including painting guides and fast play rules, organisations and unit strengths. There are some fine photos of miniatures as battle pictures or unit portraits.

This is so useful a book to make the period come to life on the table top. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the period.

The code is: Monmouth20 It will give you a 20% discount of #OneKing1685 until the end of August.

Bloody Jeffreys the Hanging Judge

I run a Facebook group Monmouth Rebellion 1685 annd it is not huge but it is enthusiastic and brings up new things. Like this book. I think it came out in 1989 -  anyway I had never heard of it. Gary Marshall bought it but hasn't read it yet. Might track one down.

17th c rules (1600-1685)

"After many delays the revamped WarreGame 17thC rules have been collated.

and a mighty tome it is. 140 pages of amended rules with a points system and army guidance to help you build your interpretation of a 17thC Army.

As promised its free to download.

Think of it as as, not so much a Rulebook, as a rich toolkit of ideas to enhance your 17thC wargaming.  Tinker with it and let me know how you get on. I'm off to Berlin now and hope to visit Luetzen battlefield later.

Depending on interest I may get it printed in hardback, in the Autumn... but that will be price sensitive"
