Louis XIV's paper soldiers
I remember reading somewhere possibly a book about the Sun King that Louis had the world's first miniature armies painted for him by the artists of the day. Can anyone verify this?
I know that Harry Pearson in his brilliant book talked about the Sun King's toy soldier armies. And Im certain he also possessed soldiers made of silver, naturally. These were sensibly melted down by his sucessors.
