French drill at St Malo recently

 At Fort de Petit Bé two Compagnies franches de la Marine units, one the le Lys sous l'Erable, based in France, and the other Garnison de Quebec, from Canada. They did some excellent demonstrations of the 1755 French infantry exercises and also explanations and demonstrations of 18th century infantry tactics.

Battle of Krefeld

 The Battle of Krefeld (sometimes referred to by its French name of Créfeld, and as Creveld^[2]) was fought at Krefeld near the Rhine on 23 June 1758 between a German army^[b] under Duke Ferdinand of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel and a French army under Count Louis of Clermont during the Seven Years' War. As a result of this Ferdinand's victory, the British government eventually decided to reinforce him with 2,000 cavalry and 4,000 infantry from the island.^[2]

Fairfax Battalia

  After I left in 89 the regiment was part of the Fairfax Brigade until renamed Fairfax Battalia in 1993 . Devereux's were brigaded with Walton's, Overton's and Fox's in a unit that would be a major feature of re-enactment for the next 27 years. Thanks to Andy. Facebook

Performed by Adrian Ingles and Tracy Freeze "The March for Two Pairs of Kettledrums was first performed by the brothers Philidor in the presence of King Louis XIV at Versailles in 1683. Andre Philidor, also librarian of the Royal Music Library, transcribed the March in 1705. It was first published in The Journal of the Galpin Society IX, June 1956 in an article by Caldwell Titcomb. The dynamics suggested in this edition were not contained in the source but were added by the editor."

 My favourite Osprey. Pics are so darn good. Came out in 1988 which was just in time for fuelling our fantasies about reenacting the 1690s which never happened. I tried a few places like Namur and Charles Fort Ireland. There was a bit of a scene in Ireland (Sligo and so forth) but I never went.
