French invasion of the Isle of Wight 1545

The first landing of French troops took place today - read about it here. Part of the Italian wars.

And the nasty frogs burnt my town. I work and live in an area of Newport known as Nodehill which is a corruption of the local dialect for Noddy Hill a place of mass graves, noddys being corpses, from the invasion. Not many people know that!
