Today (allowing for date change) is the 300th anniversary of this bloody battle of the War of Spanish Succession. A first hand account of the battle is given in the book "Amiable Renegade: The Memoirs of Peter Drake (1671-1753)" on pages 163 to 170. Of course it's also famous for inspiring the hit song Marlbrough_s'en_va-t-en_guerre.
