Frome and the Monmouth Rebellion
Gary Kearley
Wednesday 28 May at Frome Cricket Club.
Doors (and bar) open at 7pm, talk is at 7:30pm.
In 1685 Frome found itself at the centre of the Monmouth Rebellion, as Charles II's eldest son attempted to wrest the crown of England from his uncle James II. This illustrated talk will cover the cause, conduct and consequences of the rebellion with particular emphasis on Frome and the surrounding area.
