Royalist Officers Oxford 1643 by R Scollins

 Thanks to Siephen Tindle

From the April 1986 issue ofMilitary Modeling comes this colour plate by Richard Scollins which illustrated a brief article on Royalist officers during the English Civil War by A.Tomlinson.

Figure 1 (central figure) is based on a three quarter length portrait of John, 1st Baron Byron painted by Dobson, possibly at Oxford in 1643.

Figure 2 (seated figure) is an assembly from three paintings, a potrait of Colonel John Russell, a potrait of Sir William Compton and a group portrait of Prince Rupert, Colonel Murray and Colonel Russell.

Figure 3 (figure on left) is based on a painting of an unidentified officer that had been erroneously identified as Sir Charles Lucas.
