He was, of course, neither. But Prince Rupert of the Rhine is one of the few historical personages I really admire. As a commander, bold to the point of rashness; uncompromising; a stickler for what he thought was right. Liked carrying the fight, whatever the odds, to his opponents. The sort of character I like to have in my Imagi-Nations. Graf Tympani, in the service of the Wholly Romantic Empire is one such...

It is hard to imagine Prince Rupert as a Calvinist, though.
