I know of no French regiment that wore green coats. On the other hand, the Russians did and I think this painting shows Russians, as all other uniform details also point in that direction.
Marc Shaftenaar who has just published a book on the Dutch army of the period says An attack of a Dutch "Vrij Compagnie" on French troops, during the War of the Austrian Succession, painting by Morier, about 1760. The "Vrij Compagnieen" were volunteer companies of 50 - 200 men, that acted as light infantry.
