Sudeley Castle ECW weekend

Introducing our first ever Civil War Weekend

⚔️
On Saturday 15th and 16th August, Sudeey visitors can step into one of the most turbulent chapters in the castle’s history as our Civil War Weekend brings the past dramatically back to life.
Across the weekend there will be:
⚔️ A Civil War skirmish in the Hop Field
🥁 Pike drills accompanied by drummers
🏕️ A living-history village on the Mulberry Lawn
🩺 Period medics, cooking and traditional daily life
🍽️ Civil War-inspired specials in the Pavilion café
Sudeley once stood at the heart of Royalist operations in Gloucestershire, and the scars of the conflict can still be seen on the Castle walls.
Civil War Weekend activities are all included within the price of general admission on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August.
Come and experience it all with us!

French drill at St Malo recently

At Fort de Petit Bé two Compagnies franches de la Marine units, one the le Lys sous l'Erable, based in France, and the other Garnison de Quebec, from Canada. They did some excellent demonstrations of the 1755 French infantry exercises and also explanations and demonstrations of 18th century infantry tactics.

Fairfax Battalia

After I left in 89 the regiment was part of the Fairfax Brigade until renamed Fairfax Battalia in 1993 . Devereux's were brigaded with Walton's, Overton's and Fox's in a unit that would be a major feature of re-enactment for the next 27 years. Thanks to Andy. Facebook

Event

Hoof stuff, zincot sage and colorful uniforms. Maria Teresa's hussars are coming!

These legendary riders 18. for the century they were both the fear of the enemy and the pride of the Habsburg army. They were the eyes and ears of the imperial army. Brave, fast and always where there was greatest danger, they set out to explore, raided enemy patrols, protected their own army and pursued the retreating enemies. . Their bravery and horsemanship were written not only in military history, but also in folk songs, that still remind the famous Hussar times.
Come on the 18th. In July, on the Great Chance to meet them with your own eyes and experience the atmosphere of 1741, when the Prussians attacked the fortress.
