Halmstad 1676

 Nu till helgen åker vi tillsammans med andra föreningar till Halmstad för 350-årsmarkeringen av slaget vid Fyllebro 1676.

På lördag den 15/8 sker en historisk stadsmarsch genom Halmstad, från slottet till Norre Katts park, där vi avslutar med en uppvisning.

Avmarsch från slottet: 13.00

Uppvisning: 13.15–15.00

This weekend, we are travelling to Halmstad together with other associations to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the Battle of Fyllebro in 1676.

On Saturday, 15 August, a historic march through Halmstad will take place, from the castle to Norre Katts Park, where we will have a small reenactment.

 According to orders from Karl XI, the city of Kalmar was reinforced with more soldiers in 1676 after the sinking of the warship Kronan! 

Here we are marching on Kaggensgatan.

Next weekend we will continue to tell about what happened 350 years ago with our friend associations, the Swedish Lifcompagniet, the Skaraborgs historical infantry regiment, and the Änkedrottningens life regiment to horse where there will be a demonstration and a state march in Halmstad.

 The Battle of Halmstad, also known as the Battle at Fyllebro, was fought on August 17, 1676, at Fyllebro, approximately 4 km (2.5 mi) southeast of the town of Halmstad in the province of Halland in southwest Sweden. It was the last battle fought in Halland between Denmark and Sweden.

 Great to see Scanian War uniforms. The one on the right ''is a soldier from the Närke Wärmland regiment. He also has the charicteristic straw cart in a hat, which at least in the Battle of Lund showed that you were Swedish.''

 In the mid-17th century, Sweden enjoyed the status of major European power, feared and admired by its contemporaries. Sweden’s achievement was undoubtedly substantial, because It had triumphantly reversed the pattern of the previous half-century in which, for all its limited military success against Muscovy, it had experienced a long run of battles against the Poles, and finally against the Habsburgs and the Catholic League. By 1632, Sweden astonished contemporaries; historians ever since have sought to explain how its military success could be achieved on such a precarious economic base. Nevertheless, by 1655, during the devastating war against a host of enemies, Sweden held its own on many fronts. Military historians praised the Swedes for their reputation as aggressive and brave soldiers, but the factors which helped Sweden to maintain its predominance was the effective organization of the army, which represented a completely original model in the European scenario, no less successful than the ones of France and the Dutch Republic.

Bremen-Verden campaign

 

The Bremen-Verden campaign (German: Bremen-Verdener feldzug) was a conflict during the Northern Wars in Europe. From 15 September 1675 to 13 August 1676^[6] an anti-Swedish coalition comprising Brandenburg-Prussia, the neighbouring imperial princedoms of Lüneburg and Münster, and Denmark-Norway, conquered the Duchies of Bremen and Verden.

Bremen-Verden, a remote outpost of Sweden's Baltic Sea empire, was the third Swedish imperial fief in North Germany granted under the Peace of Westphalia in 1648, alongside Swedish Pomerania and the Barony of Wismar. Following its conquest it remained in allied hands until the end of the war in 1679, but was then fully returned to Sweden in the wake of the Treaties of Nijmegen. For the major warring parties of Sweden, Brandenburg and Denmark, this theatre of war in northwest Germany was only of secondary significance.

Dannie Fogleman said 'In the past we used BLB. We recently did Lund with modified Valour and Fortitude. Both worked well. Here is a report:
