Viskovatov

Looking for images from this 19th century Russian military artist and came across this collection of pics depicting the army of Peter the Great. More here

Should be noted that Viskovatov have to be treated with caution. This multi-volume work on Russian military costume was created in mid-XIX c. Its' positive side was it was largest work on the subject; amount of information and quality of illustrations impress indeed.
Its' drawback was in poor research of written sources, iconography and survived items. Illustrations are also not up to modern state of knowledge of the subject.
Still, till 1980's it was the only source of information about Russian GNW uniforms.
