The '45: Bonnie Prince Charlie and the untold story of the Jacobite Rising by Dr Christopher Duffy
I have been reading this. I got it from the library. Came out in 2007. It's very enjoyable - I forgot how pleasant it is to read Duffy. A masterful military history. Obviously he knows 18th century warfare and brings a wealth of experience to the table. Definitely one to look out for.
I published this at Weidenfeld & Nicolson and had the enormous pleasure of working with Chris Duffy. It did very well too. Long after I'd left W&N he published what amounts to a 'Director's Cut' edition with Helion which is still in print in paperback I believe: https://www.helion.co.uk/military-history-books/fight-for-a-throne-the-jacobite-45-reconsidered.php
