Monmouth Rebel by Richard Scollins

Fraxinus, whose blog I recommend, sent me this image from an old Military Modelling article. I like it a lot and it's one of the most convincing interpretations of a Rebel I've seen. Not mad about the hat, but otherwise this fits my image of what a Rebel infantryman might have looked like. Flintlock..yes they had them in reasonable numbers...bandoleer? Maybe. There is a strange device in the Blake Museum, Bridgwater that is supposed to be a powder-carrying device from Sedgemoor...it looks like a bicycle inner tube with a brass spout attached to it...made of black leather...very odd. My guess is most musketeers would have had a flask and that would be it. Here's one that is a relic of the battle.
