Monmouth was staying here on the 26th June - at the George Inn prior to the battle of Philip's Norton. Here in this inn an attempt was made on Monmouth's life by someone after the price put on his head. Monmouth's artillery were parked in front of this pub which had previously had notables such as Pepys and Henry VIII stay here. Photo from Flickr
