Strelets announce Jacobites

According to PSR
New Jacobites due this summer
Strelets have announced two new sets for a period they have not previously covered. The sets are simply called Jacobites (1) and Jacobites (2), and cover the various Jacobite Rebellions of the late 17th and 18th centuries. Jacobites should be available around the end of August or early September.

Should make the '15 a possibility in 1/72 with GNW for regulars.

This is excellent news! The only previous set of Jacobite Highlanders were released by BUM under their GerMan label. The figures look good, but the plastic is more like rubber, about the consistency of a good pencil eraser. You have to carefully clip them from the sprue because if you try to pull them, you can actually tear a figure in half! You can see them here:

There are already test shots of the new sets on the StreletsR web site. I say "test shots" because the castings don't look fully filled in and there is a lot of flash, not to Strelets usual standard. Still, you can get a good idea of the contents and usefulness. These could actually work across a wide variety of time periods. Each set has one command sprue that is the same for both sets, with a nice piper and mounted officer present, then each set has 3 additional sprues of "clansmen". Set 1 has a mix of musket and polearms, with some pike even! Set 2 is more the traditional Clan warrior set, full of targe's, claymore's and axe's. You can see them here:

Strelets' site is indicating a September 09 release.
