Percy Kirke

Thanks to David Wilton for finding this.
Portrait of Percy Kirke, possibly with the fortifications of Tangier in the background. The painting is housed in the officer's mess of the 2nd Battalion The Princess of Wales Royal Regiment and is not on public display.
There was a book by John Childs - here - haven't read it but looks good.

A great find.
The book is excellent by the way, and sets the so called 'villain' in a more historical context. Although not condoning the events after Sedgemoor it sets Kirke in a more practical historical light, and is based on JCR Childs' own excellent research and letters and new letters from Kirke.
It also sets later potential loyalty issues with William/James in a little more context.
