Marche pour le Prince Royal - Trumpets & Kettledrums by JGBaroque

 He says

Inspired by my recent research about trumpets and kettledrums in 17th/18th century military and court music, I composed this march in a typical late 17th century French style. I imagined it a piece that could have been played by the mounted trumpeters and drummers of a coronation procession, or for the "Grand Carousel", the equestrian show put up by Louis XIV in Paris in 1662. I gave it the title "Marche pour le Prince Royal" ("March for the Royal Prince"), to evoke the image of the arrival of a royal dignitary. It is scored for four trumpets in C and timpani/kettledrums. The image shows the royal escort of Emperor Francis I and prince Joseph entering Frankfurt in March 1764, with mounted trumpeters and drummers in the foreground. It was made by the Austrian painter Johann Dallinger von Dalling in 1766 or 1767.
